A trend that has been further endorsed with the arrival of the LSN (Logistique Seine-Normandie) competitiveness cluster, and that supports the hypothesis of a major "post-fuel" economic hub emerging in Caen la mer, relying on the combination of several activity zones along the canal and valuable road and rail links.

The most important recent development has been the opening in 2006 of an ultra modern warehouse for the storage of fresh goods by the company Système U. The 32,000m2 site located in Ifs, would appear to herald further development of the group, bringing new jobs and added value.
