Legendary gastronomy, kilometres of coastline, sites and monuments steeped in history... so many reasons that, for several decades, have attracted visitors to the region from Europe and further afield, essentially the United States. With approximately 500,000 visitors to the Caen Memorial alone, Caen la mer is proud of its share of the 8 million annual visitors to Calvados museums and visitor centres, and of the 865 million euros provided by the industry throughout the department.

Since 1997, the Caen district is committed, via Normandie Qualité Tourisme, to ensuring the development of its tourist industry towards constantly improved quality in terms of hospitality.
